Speaker Ryan M. LeVasseur
Managing Director, Real Estate Development
"Rice University: South Main Innovation District"

The South Main Innovation District, located inside the loop near downtown and Hwy 288, is over 16 acres of master planned community. It introduces a new kind of urban district to Houston that prioritizes street life and public space. The district embraces technology, community, and sustainability and revitalizes the area. The anchor of the district is the old Sears building now known as the Ion. The Ion is the nucleus for innovation in Houston, fostering an inclusive community and culture where entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and corporations come together to solve some of the world’s greatest problems. Ryan will give ACRP members and guests an overview of the renovation of the building along with the plans for the future development in the area. He’ll also discuss how other universities are growing outside of their current campuses.
